bad vibrations after ujoint changes

Working on a 79 F250 super cab 4x4 Dana 60s front and rear, 400 v8, c6 auto and np205

So last weekend I replaced the u-joints in the front axle and the u-joint in the rear drive shaft at the rear end yoke. Obviously on the freeway I'm not in 4x4 so the front axle wouldn't be causing vibration... the rear u-joint was in bad shape when I swapped it but the vibration is still there on the freeway.

What is the deal with the carrier bearing on super cab rear drive shafts?? I thought those were for 2wd trucks?? Could that be a source of bad vibes?

If you have a carrier bearing, that means it has a slip yoke. If the three u-joints are not aligned perfectly with each other, it's gonna vibrate. Make sure the rear half is clocked in sync with the front half.

...and if they are not aligned correctly and you drive it like that for a while(short while) you can break your transmission case....ASK ME HOW I KNOW!

If you didn't have a vibration before the u-joint change out just unbolt it and turn the shaft 180 degrees and bolt it back on. That's what I did on mine.
Here's a link on driveshaft phasing.

If you put the new u-joint back in the same as the old one came out, (assuming the old one was right) All the grease zerks should line up

can I run this truck with a new drive shaft that eliminates the center bearing and slip yoke? Why is it there? I just got done with a slip yoke elimination kit on my jeep...ugh!

The driveshaft is 2 piece because of the length and or obstacles, dunno if you can get by with a single but you definitely need a slip yoke or you will tear the trans or rear end out of the truck.
