Originally posted by BIXONE I have a '98 that has the same flashing problem. I took it in to the dealer and spent $275 for them to tell me they couldn't find the the problem unless they pulled the tranny! They said it could be something as simple as a $3 O-ring on the inside of the transmission and wanted $1800 to rebuild! The prblem is intermitent and has been that way fro a year now. The tranny shifts a little harder when the light is flashing (especially down shifting). I bought this "exploder" used from an auction and had to put a new timming chain in it a month after I got it. I couldn't afford to put the money into the tranny so I figured I would just drive it till it goes out!
the tranny needs a valve body replacement mne was under warranty 100 deductible.but one yar later same problem.as for the timing chain their is supposed to be a recall on 98-99 timing chains
