two different mounting positions for A/C compressor?

two different mounting positions for A/C compressor?
So I was at the junk yard the other day looking for some AC parts, and ran into this problem. The AC compressor for my truck is on the passenger side, but several of the trucks I saw at the yard had them on the drivers side. Is this an indication of factory AC vs. dealer installed AC?
