First post, looking to buy!

I have been shopping for almost a month now and trying to get my mind right before I buy. I currently have a WRX that I autocross and a daily. I'm looking to consolidate to one vehicle that's bigger, good in the snow, comfortable on long trips and has lots of power and is fun to drive. I have my eye on the Lariat Ultimate package with all the options but I'm having a hard time since the EXACT truck I wanted is at my local dealer, but I'm not having second thoughts about the console. This truck has the bench seat, but I think it'll rarely, if ever, get used and I like the idea of rear air in the console option. Any input on which is better and why to help me make my decision if it's worth looking longer to find the same exact truck with the console? Right now, I'm also trying to understand if price is where I want to be... The truck stickers for almost $62,000 and just from talking for a night and walking out, I'm down to $50,700... Since I have trade-in, I'll get a big tax break there, but is 50,700 the best I can do on an almost loaded Lariat 4x4 CC SB?

Welcome. Is that 50,700 with rebates? I think that is a pretty good price.

For that mush money though I would get exactly what you want (ie console). Will they give you the same deal if you order one. I just ordered yesterday.

50,700 was final price + Tax Tags and Freight... Sounded like it was because the truck was on the lot. If I order one, it sounded like they wouldn't be able to work as aggressively. I guess if they want to sell the truck, they'll have to. I'll have them do a search this week to see if they can find one or if I'll have to order. When is suspected delivery for you if you ordered yesterday? And, yes, I AM going to get the console because for that kind of money, it better be EXACTLY what I want!

They are saying 6-8 weeks. Hoping for sooner of course. I have never bought that argument from the dealer. They still make money on an ordered truck.

Just my opinion though.

Good luck, let us know what you find.

Sounds like a pretty good price. I bought my truck on a fleet program and got about the same level of discount. Sounds like they want to move that truck.

What an exciting time, planning, and talking about a new truck. As many new vehicles I've ordered it still is fun. I hope you get your truck in the 6-8 weeks. That's what the dealer told me, but it was three months minus one day. Wow, what a long wait. I have the console, and it's great for when we carry our two little grandchildren in the back. Plenty of cool air for them and sure don't miss the fold down seat back in the front. We had the seat option in the last Lariat and never used it. Anyhow, hope the wait time goes quickly, you'll LOVE the new trucks when you get them. Sometimes I still just sit in the garage and listen to Sirius.

The difference to the salesman is money now, or money later. Other than that, there is not any reason for the difference in lot vs. order price. In most cases, the dealer makes more money off a vehicle that spends the minimum time at the dealership.

Order what you want and visit several dealers for the best deal. I found the best deal for my last purchase was in another state. Well worth the train ticket, and I had a nice ride back for a break-in.

Get exactly what you want!

I had the center seat in my '05 and never used it. Have the center console on my '11 and love it. Not only is there rear A/C and heat, the console is huge and there is a 12V plug and 110V plug on the back as well.

That's one of the main reasons I want the center console... I love the truck from driving it 2-3 times, and even brought the dealer and the truck to my house to make sure it fit in the garage, and it did. So far, I'm a big instant gratification guy (my generation is plagued by this) so I'd like to find something to buy now, but I'm NOT spending this kind of money on a truck that is anything but perfect for me. So far, this is what I'm sure I want/don't want:

Want
6.7L Diesel
Extra Heavy Duty Alternator (or Dual Alternators)
Engine Block Heater
4x4 Locking Diff 3.55
20" Cast Aluminum Wheels
40/Console/40 Interior
Lariat Ultimate Package
Uplifter Switches
Two-tone paint
Tailgate Step
FX4 Offroad Package

Don't Want
Chrome Package
Center Seat
Clearance Lights

My opinion is order exactly what you want. Sell your car outright. You can get the the truck for invoice minus any rebates at any dealer and put your cash down from the car. If the dealer says no the next one will say yes.

Your crazy...Get the clearance lights......LOL

55.00 from the factory.

I have had 3 super dutys and will never have another one without.

Best decision I made,,,well minus the Chilled seats.

Post picks when you get the Truck.

I'm pretty sure you can take the center seat out of that bench and install the console. Many folks have done it over the years. Requires removal of all the front seats and a bit of work, maybe more, but I think it is doable.

I understand that it's doable but I'm not planning on replacing parts on a 60000 dollar truck that I could have got right in the first place. I'll start the dealer on a local search Monday.

With the coin you are spending order the truck and get exactly what you want. It's never worth settling on a major purchase like this that you will probably have for years and years.

The heavy duty alternator is more than enough, unless you're adding a winch that will be used often or a booming stereo system.
