Normally I would say order it and get it the way you want. My dealer told me an ordered truck is considered an "extra, non inventory" and was willing to go $500 below invoice plus any incentives. That said, if it is a 2011 there may be better incentives on it.
As to console, I too saw a truck on the lot and it was missing a few items. some I could live without, some I added. The big one was it had a jump seat and i hated it! So i bought a 2010 console off Ebay and swaped it out. Am I missing a few things from the 2011/12 console? yes. but I am perfectly happy with that comprimise. The vents in the rear are nice, but my truck has a vent under each seat facing rear. Same? I also have an inverter in my truck should I need 110v Same? Close enough for me.
It sounds like you would love to take this truck home if only it had a console..... I did a thread here a few months ago, center console keyword. Good luck! You will LOVE it and forget about the GMC.

Well, my dealer called back and found exactly the truck with all I wanted, the color and console to boot. Unfortunately it is out of state and is missing the homelink visor, but i read that it is any easy swap out (200+ bucks though). I am planning to go up and talk price with them tomorrow and put a deposit on it to get it here. Advice needed though... They said they'd send someone to drive it here (free) but its 750+ miles. Or, I could pay 1000 to ship it. Do i fight to have them pay the shipping to sell me the truck or do I let them drive it? I dont like the idea of someone doing all that breaking in, and driving it before I can put on the clear bra, you know?! Let me know what you think...
My .02 Work your best deal on the truck. Start at dealer invoice plus all incentives plus tell them you want it trucked, not driven, to them included. See what they can do with that. Tell them you can find a truck 750 miles away and go there and buy it. If they want to make the sale, it shouldnt cost you more that the truck is in another state. Hell, my dealer wont pull a truck from another dealer. That happened on this truck. I saw the exact truck I wanted in PA and asked them to pull it and they wouldnt. I almost walked away. In the end, mine turned out to have a few features the other truck didnt have and I am still very happy with the truck. Good luck and keep us posted.
I'm going to drive truck again and see if I can work out transport arrangements on the truck I want. If so, I'll be putting a deposit on it tonight! Also, are there any sound clips of DPF back exhausts anywhere? I don't want to remove the emissions stuff yet
Cabindoc, When you say "start at dealer invoice plus all incentives" you really mean to start at invoice and subtract all incentives, correct? Sounds like a dumb question, I know, just want to make sure I'm understanding that correctly.
Hi, I have been battling ove the truck issue for a few months now, in the summer my wife an I purchased a fifh wheel. I had a 2010 f150 XLT, it towed the trailer but everytime I towed I kept thinking about that story about the little red engine (I think I can I think I can!!). So I started reading threads on the deisel, very impressed with the reviews on the 6.7. But then the delema came the almighty$$$. After looking at car lots internet advertisements I decided I would write down what I would want and what I did not want, then I brought the list to the dealer and said can you find me this truck? I thought it would take at least a month or 3 weeks, but they found one about a week ago and I gave them my list the week before that. The advice get what you want is so true, I have always settled for what the dealer had on hand, but like everyone says for the amount of money you are paying get what you want, so that is what I did, matter of fact I picked up my new truck about 3 hours ago. The dealship went to Sydney Nova Scotia and brought it back to Dartmouth Nova Scotia at no charge to me, but the truck is sweet, I have had 2 F150 loved them both, but nothing compares to what I just picked up. 2011 Ford F250 Crew Cab 4X4 Lariat, 6.5 box, 2 tone paint, chrome mirrors, Leather interior with the console I will never own another truck with out that feature. 6.7 Diesel, moonroof, sliding back window power, power mirrors, remote start, sync, premium sound system, dual climatic control automatic no more reaching down and adjuting the controls, tow package, spray in bed liner, remote start, 18inch high polished alloy's (very nice) I will post some pics as soon as we get a sunny day. But I am very happy that I stood my ground and got the truck I wanted.

Yes, that is what I meant. Thought about that for a minute too before I said that...I actually got my dealer to go $500 below invoice and then subtracting the incentives, which for me is around $4k. Retail on the truck about $54k I'm at about $46 on a cab and chassis plus body of course.

Similar to what I did... Sticker was $62K and I worked them down to $50K + Free Running Boards + Free Homelink Visor Swap. Not a bad deal to me since invoice was $56K and incentives on 2012s are only $3000 right now.
Nice truck strokin. Glad you got it done and also glad to see you chose this over the Denali. Good business.
Thanks, I am too! The Denali, while very nice and with a more proven platform, just isn't as much truck for the money and I can only believe that after the international woes in the recent past that they have something to prove and are ready to make good on their promise to fix the motor issues. I had driven both and the ford just feels so much more like a truck and has the updated interior to back it. I will be sleeping very little until it comes
I've had only black trucks for 27 years until I found my "Royal Red" '10 F350. Now I see colors like that a lot and have grown to love them. I love the Autumn Red color as well. Congrats on the purchase!
