My first thought is: DON'T DO IT!
Read HERE.
These conversions are illegal because the halogen reflector housing that came with your truck isn't designed to properly manage an HID beam. It won't be able to focus the light in the same way that's done with your halogen bulbs, and therefore they scatter light and can blind oncoming traffic.
I frequent a Mustang forum where we recently had the same discussion. One of the HID conversion proponents posted pics of his car with HID bulbs in stock halogen reflector lamps.
Notice how the light is scattered? In both pics the camera is receiving scattered light that should be focused on the road. This isn't safe for other drivers.
At night I can recognize an HID retrofit a half-mile away, and they are obnoxious. If you're going to do it, do it right. Get a headlamp assembly designed for HID bulbs.

I've had mine on for almost a year and I live out in the country.....and I never get flashed. I even tow a 7' x 16' enclosed trailer with two motorcycles and all the race gear inside, coming home well after dark.........never get flashed. Most cops have better things to do than to worry about headlights on a vehicle unless they are grossly out of adjustment and just blinding the h*ll out of someone. YMMV!
