And I also am running a WW on my van turbo so I don't surge. The compressor size is the same from the van turbo to the stocker.
Ok that is smaller than I thought it would be. Haven't had a 7.3 turbo out before.

It can. It's a matter of how long it will hold. Izzy is rocking 238cc hybrids iirc with a can turbo. He should be sitting at 500hp easy. It's just tearing the van turbo apart.

If you want stage II's you will be fine. And then you can upgrade to a 38r, H2e or even a T4 charger in the future.

The van turbo doesnt flow any more air than the stocker does the point to it is to lower drive pressure. Both turbos flow around 828 cfm if I femember right. The H2E is a much better turbo than the 38r. but the 38r will hold those power levels just fine but beyond that his best bet is the H2e. To confirm for you it IS a 1/4'' NPT tap your gonna need. Once again DITCH THE WW

You have made such a big deal out of this in this thread without any real reason or justification. Before my Stage I Single Shot injectors, I dyno'd 309hp/677tq on my van turbo with a WW. Where I come from on stock injectors, those are pretty darn respectable numbers.

Surge occurs on the compressor side of the turbo. The compressor side is the same from a stock turbo to a van turbo. A WW is a great option. Whether you are broke or not. Its a matter of preference. I love the whistle personally. 2 psi isn't going to make a huge difference stock wheel vs a WW. Heck, I can pull 35psi+ with the WW as it is.

After I put my turbo on I had my DP set on the 80economy and I couldnt stop braking the tires loose (I got done with the install just after it rained and the roads were wet) so I got up to 60mph and floored it thinking theres no way Ill brake the tires loose going that fast..... I was wrong a puff of black smoke and I was sideways driving down my road. I thought my wife was gonna poop herself lol. I had a boost leak and was only able to make 15psi boost but I found it and fixed it and was able to make 27psi after the fact. If its straight piped the sound of the turbo dumping boost threw the exhause is awesome too itll have a zing sound to it unlike with the WG in place. May as well tell him to upgrade the uppipe gaskets or put bellowed pipes on it while hes there

Where and how did you start in your search for the boost leak? I have just recently put the banks big head waste gate and new pedistool orings and added the ww as a result of "being Broke" and turbo surge. now i am getting zero trubo surge and at about 20psi of boost i hear what sounds like pressure escaping??? im assuming as you mentioned a Boost leak? also it seems to leak at lower psi also every time i hit a bump in the road....? at the same time i hear the leak the truck does seem to shutter or ....hesitate i guess? thanks for the help!!

I'm with duck fan on the WW. I don't know why everyone says don't run a van Turbo with a WW. I have a van Turbo and a WW and have had no problems yet. I do a lot of pulling with my truck and it still builds around 27/28 psi under a load. Know with the stock Turbo and wheel it build about 32 psi and the van Turbo still is stronger.. I would definitely go with the van Turbo and a WW you will not regret it....... And duck you need to tell me how you made 677tq on stock sticks cause I just made 300/572 I want to know your secret ...

You can make a boost leak decter. It's pretty simple and cheap to make. There are a few good wright ups on how to make and use one. Intercooler boots are known to leak. Mine was leaking at the spider because someone pulled it off before and miss aligned th boot. And my uppipe gaskets were leaking, the black soot all over the firewall made that obvious

Hi all and a question.

Since this looks like a good option without spending a lot of money, what would I look for to pick up a van turbo? Years, identification if its off the vehicle? How to tell if its is in good shape? I have an '01 F250 4x4, and it tows a 12k 5th wheel. 200k miles and pretty stock.
Thanks.
Tom.

you'll need the 99.5-03 7.3 van turbo, for it to install collectively to your truck.
