This may be a dumb question. This is the first vehicle I have financed in many years. I got my 6.7 in July, and financed $10,000 so I could get an extra $1,000 rebate. I paid it off on Oct. 18. It cost me $73 in interest. Not bad, a $927 gain. So now I need to get my title. I have no idea where it is. Would Ford Credit send it to me, or would it be at my dealers?
If you financed at Ford Credit, they have your title and will send it to you in a few weeks. You can make a call or just hang out. It will be sent to you soon.
I have always financed through Ford Credit. It normally takes two or three weeks to get the title. The only thing I don't like is that it is sent via the US Postal Service. I had one occasion where it was lost and I had to apply for a replacement title. That was a pain and time consuming.

That is a great question. I did the same thing a year ago. I financed the truck thur Ford go get the $1000 discount, they I paid off the truck after 3 months. And the same thing happened to me . . . . I never got my title to the truck nor the pink slip. Aren't we susposed to get the pink slip?
Most of the time the title comes from your lein holder a few weeks after the loan is paid in full. When you send in final payment, the lein holder puts a 10 day hold on the funds to make sure that it clears before they release the lein and send out the title.
Some states are really slow processing titles, so if you pay your loan off quicklly, the lein holder may not have even received the title from the state yet. You can check your state DMW website, most have a title search option and you can put in your VIN# and get your title status.
The release of lien thing is weird. That's like property (house/land) in the peoples republic of Illinois. Vehicle titles show up 30-45 days after payoff......
Thanks for the feedback. I contacted Ford Credit and was told it was mailed a week ago yesterday. I have been out of town and my mail has been forwarded to a mail service. I have a batch coming which was sent yesterday, so, hopefully I'll be seeing it on Monday or Tues.
I had them come in as fast as 4 days after payoff (Citizens bank) to 3 weeks with other finance institutions. Even buying outright on the spot sometimes will take a few weeks.
I know that down here in Florida, when I paid off a car that I got a notice from the state that my title was now clear and if I wanted a copy I could ask for one but other wise it is kept as an "Electronic Title". I guess they are trying to save money by not mailing out paper titles to everyone. I always apply for the paper title, I am old fashion and like to hold on to the paper myself.
