Sorry another PCO question
Sorry another PCO question
I received a PCO this morning. My special order truck just arrived. The offer is 3000 for expedition and 750 for other Ford vehicles.
I sent my dealer the PCO info and he is saying that he already applied the PCO and that they have access to all private cash offers.
“It comes up as part of your rebates when we pull our smart Vincent. For example we get leads for customers specifically who have have offers in there name. It’s basically another sales tactic for ford to get people to trade out of there current ford. “
Is is this a line of BS????
Thanks

Yes. They can search your email and look up all the rebates you have listed in your name.
This may not be a PCO persay. It may just be a ford offer that everyone has.
I know as of Feb 1. they all increased.

I started working on a deal with a dealership before I got my PCO. We were $3000 apart when we last spoke. When I got my PCO I made an my offer $1000 higher. They told me to come on down.
We started talking again and he was being deceptive with his numbers. I told him I wanted to see the deal sheet and he refused. I called him shady and got kicked out of the dealership. Basically, he had checked for the PCO and saw that I now had one and was going to make the deal and try to flip some of that money to him. Watch them at every turn, because most of them are out to screw you. I wound up getting a much better deal at another dealership, but I did have to drive quite away.

No, not BS. PCOs will be tied to your address/email. So, if they put in your home address or email address, it will be attached to you. And, yes, of course Ford does this to accelerate the replacement business. They're trying to entice a new buy from those people who would otherwise not be in the market. It's not an altruistic program -- Ford is still a for-profit business!

I recieved this email at 9am this morning after filling out the survey for Ford. Even if the dealer checked under my name when we worked out the numbers, this should be a new incentive since I got it only a few hours ago??
Thanks
The part I don’t understand is our numbers have been worked out for weeks while waiting for the truck to arrive.

I had the dealer do the same thing to me. I negotiated a deal in early January. I received a Private Cash Offer in early February after getting a pop-up on Ford.com. When I went to pick up the truck in mid February I presented the offer and the dealer said the offer was figured into my deal I made in January. How did the dealer know I would get a pop-up in February? The offer also has instruction for the dealer to input into their system with the specific offer certificate number. They would not of had this in January either. It is just a way for them to turn a Private Offer into additional margins for themselves. When I tried to file a complaint with the BBB the BBB denied filing my complaint stating that it was a pricing issue and in our free enterprise system a dealer can price however they want and is outside the purview of the BBB. It's not about pricing but about business ethics.

Perhaps I didn't read it correctly, but your story above suggests that you're not entirely certain what rebates, incentives, or other elements were in the deal you struck. That makes it really hard to deconstruct the deal later to understand what benefits you did or did not receive. It appears to me that the dealer was counting on you not knowing the details of your deal and it would seem that he was correct. It's critical that you follow the numbers from start to finish in the deal -- it's not only the bottom line that matters.
I'd probably side with the BBB on this one. It's not clear how the numbers shook out or where the misunderstanding truly originated.
Good luck.
It is correct that a PCO cannot be applied before it is received. I don't know if your name/account may have already had a PCO. I believe that Ford issues PCOs to people through mail and other programs. Perhaps you didn't even realize you had a PCO tagged to your account. I'm not sure. But, yes, if you had no PCO in January when you struck the deal, then the dealership couldn't have applied one at that time.

I don't care if you would probably side with the BBB. The complaint process allows for the dealer to respond.
Interesting enough, even though the BBB denied filing (publishing) the complaint they apparently still forwarded it to the dealer. I got a call about 30 minutes ago from the general manager who agreed their sales manager made a mistake and the offer should of been applied to my deal and they "are going to make it right" with a followup to me in a day or two.
PCOs are NOT tied to email. When checking VINCENT, they need First and Last name as well as zip code. This is how it is registered in the system and how it prevents you from giving a PCO to somebody else.
As others have stated, if you had a PCO and didn't even know it, yes the dealer can pull your name/zip code up in VINCENT and factor in whatever rebates are available at the time without even telling you about the PCO.
