So I have a pretty basic 2011 F250. No sync, no camera, no bluetooth, no steering controls, no nothing. The only upgrades the truck has is the FX4 package, and locking rears (other stuff too, but nothing stereo related). I usually dont spend a whole ton on factory parts, because alot of the time, I end up replacing them anyway.
anyway... to the "help" part. I would like to add a backup camera, and a double din 5.8-7" dvd player in the dash. I have been looking alot at the Pioneer 3300BT unit, which is double din, but not sure.. Does anything double din fit? I realize I have to get the ford mounting kit, but should I be looking for one that is made for my truck, or anything double din will work?
Also, does anyone have some advice in this matter? Im not sure of a quality camera to put in. I know pioneer makes one, and I had planned on just getting that for $100ish.
Always open for ideas and suggestions. I was HOPING to spend less than $450 on camera, install kits, and DVD unit. The 3300 is close to that price point,
Depth should be the only issue and I think all of the superduties have enough space for most radios. My 02 took a little modification to the dash bezel, but it was really eays trimming.
For cameras, a neat trick I learned is cheap blk/wht cameras don't filter UV light well. Meaning They pick up a not so visible spectrum of light that may be very prevalent at night when there is little visible light.
I installed a clarion vx401 a few weeks ago in my truck, mostly for the ipod integration. Not too shabby, Worth a look anyways.
Save your money and just get a camera off ebay. They work fine with the name brand stereos, even tho they want you to get their cameras. My $20 camera works awsome on the kenwood deck, even at night.
