I've got a problem with my 2004 F150 SCREW Lariat. I've been dealing with this problem for awhile, but never got around to ask for a fix. What the truck is doing is when I open the door to get out the courtesy interior lights do not turn on and the radio continues to stay on (unless I turn it off). I'm assuming this problem has to do with a sensor in the door?
It does sound like a door switch issue, but where and how to fix is beyond my knowledge base. Here's an early morning "bump" for you to get it back up the list.
That is exactly what it is. I had the same issue on my 08. It was still under warranty, so I had the dealership fix it. I believe it was a broken mount on the sensor. I didn't ask too many questions because this dealership was already pissing me off over a simple issue.
For a quick check to see if it is the sensor, when the truck is running, open the door. You should hear the door ajar chime, and it should say the door is ajar someone on your gauges. If not, it's a bad switch or mount.

Thanks for the help in advance
Hope This helps, goggled it & found:
just aft of the front seat in that wire bundle. It is a factory 3 wire splice on the bottom of the bundle. It lies in the water that gathers in that area and corrodes. I repaired mine, sealed it, moved it to the top (the rest of the bundle does not seem to have any other splices in the area) and made a drain hole. I SUSPECT the water is fro the rear windshield especially the slider section.
the troublesome wires we're violet or purple they we're located on the drivers side door sill of the rear door almost up to the rear pillar The 2 purple wires splice into 1 purple wire.
these we're corroded so I cut out the splice re-spliced and all was fine
