I would call TousleyFordParts or PartsGuyEd and get them looking for the part numbers. They are pretty good!
Do you need all of them or just one (ie did they all get hardened or cracked, or did you just lose one)?
Actually Mark, none of the above. Mine are all fine as far as I know, but I just bought a "spare" FICM, which has none in it, and would like to acquire an extra set or two, particularly in case mine are starting to get hard. My thinking here is that they are there for a reason, to reduce vibration damage to the FICM, and if they become hard, cracked, or missing, we may be shortening the life of the FICM. Your two suggestions above may be the best, as I would guess that Ford won't sell them without a mininmum $600.00 purchase . Interestingly enough, I noticed on my quick search here and on the rest of the web last night, that it seems to be standard operating procedure, both from Ford and everywhere else, to replace them when you replace your FICM (Ford supplies them with new FICM's), but when I tried to find them seperately they don't seem to exist, at least not as specified for 6.0 FICM's. I am sure that it would be a favor to many if I could find a ready source of them, as I know others have gone looking for them also.
I will call the two numbers above and see if either of those work. I will post results as well as part numbers if it turns out there is such a thing. Also, and instead, if that doesn't pan out, I am going out to change out my FICM in the next few minutes anyway (to verify my "new" one is in working order), and will take measurements off of the ones which are on there now. I would guess that these are probably a standard size and type of grommet, and that I may be able to find some through a commercial grommet supplier if nothing else. The latter is a bit more leg work, but here again, if I can find them I will post where and how to get them, as well as a commercial part number spec. if I can find one.
i used valve cover grommets on my FICM when i did head gaskets b/c my FICM didnt have any grommets on it at all.had to cut the valve cover grommets down a lil.but they worked good.
Thanks 05 f250, but it looks like these are actually available through Ford. This was easier than I somehow expected. I called my local Ford dealer, Partsguyed, and Tousley Ford. All three gave me the same part number. Both my local Ford dealer and partsguyed said that I would need a total of 8 each of this part number for a full set for 1 FICM (each of the 4 grommets have 2 sides). Tousley Ford said it looked like I would only need 4 each of this part number for a full set. My local Ford dealer also faxed me a copy of the parts diagram which shows it, and I tend to agree with the guy at Tousley Ford... It looks like both halves of the rubber grommet are in each set, and therefore you would only need 4 sets.
Anyway, the part number is 3C3Z-9C150-AB. Both my local Ford dealer and Tousley Ford said $3.82 each for this part number. Partsguyed quoted me $2.75 each.
Additionally, in case you need it, the isolator, which is basically the hollow metal sleeve that goes down through both halves of the rubber grommet, and which each of the 4 bolts goes through, is part number 3C3Z-9C151-AA, and Tousley Ford quoted me $7.30 each (you would need 4).
Hope this helps someone else also.
Thanks everyone,
Mike
IIRC the 03 engines require the grommets in the FICM itself but not the 04 and up models because of the mounts.
Thank you for bringing that up. I had intended to mention that this was for an '03, and I did not know if it applied to any later models. Appreciate you catching that!
