Leveling my 78' F-150 4x4
Hey everyone, I have a '78 F-150 Custom Explorer 4x4 with a 400/C6, NP205 transfer case, Dana 44 front, and 9" rear. It sits a tad higher in the rear (about 1-2"). There's about 2" lifter blocks between the axle and the leaf springs. Now up front the right coil over has an airbag that has been busted in it, and the left coil over has nothing. Now my question is, what would be the best way to get my truck to sit level? (without lowering the rear) Should I buy 2 new airbags to raise the front or what? Also, how easy would this be to do? Here's a few pictures of the truck...
Thanks,
Steven

Unlike nowadays these rigs are working trucks were designed and built with a rake to compensate for carrying loads. I believe by your description that you might be referring to the factory blocks which are distinguishable by "wing" sticking inboard and designed to contact the frame-mounted bumpstop.
In order to level it out, Rancho used to carry 2-inch lift coils but I just looked at their 2010-2011 master catalog and they no longer carry them. I suggest buying a set of 4-inch lift front coil springs and cut them down to level the ride. It might only require 1/4 of a coil so sneak up to the desired height. Don't forget to compensate for settling. Yeah it takes some work but sometimes that is what it takes.
I've never seen airbags in front coils so I can't comment on 'em. I think getting the new coils would end up being less costly in the end.
Nice looking truck by the way. The driver's mirror bracket sure has a weird angle to it. The lower bracket should mount above the dent contour and not within it. My guess it is homemade, an odd factory piece, or something from the aftermarket.

Thanks, the mirrors are different on both sides but I think the brackets are both mounted in the same spot. It was originally a straight 6 truck that someone put a 400 in. The VIN tag on the door is from a 77' F-100 lol Biggest issue I have with it is a little end-play in the transfer case, like if you don't ease off the gas, it will clunk a little and it clunks going into reverse too.
