Hey all, I have a 1992 F-150, bone stock, and it needs a little extra ground clearance.
I've always been slightly irritated with the nose-down stance of the F-150, but I love the trucks regardless. I'm going to raise it up one way or another, but after weighing my options, I've come down to a choice. Lift it or level it? Rough Country sells a 2" front end leveling kit for about $180 that included new coil springs and steering stabilizer. Tuff country sells a small lift kit that lifts the truck 2.5" in the front, and 1.5" in the rear for about $450. I can afford both, and I'm going to run 33" tires when all is said and done. So give me your votes!
Also, it's got the 4.9L straight six and 5 speed manual, if that makes any difference. Thanks folks!
Mine was an auto/351w, I used the leveling springs for a supercab from superlift for $150 and they worked great. I also used the 2" daystar spacers with no issues. I ran pro comp +2" shocks and an add aleaf in the rear, it looked good and worked well. Both together were a bit too much for the ttb alignment.
This is the leveling springs and 34's:
It had been run hard at this point, but this is with the daystars and leveling coils on 33/12.50's:
That looks pretty great, Jimbo. I imagine you get some decent rub with the 34s?
No, they were 10.5w, so they only rubbed the outer tire lugs at full lock. I honestly believe something other than swampers with smaller tread wouldn't have rubbed.
You can grab the Moog 488 coils at local auto parts shop, they bolt up and are good for bout an 1-1.5 inches. plus at my store they only run bout 100 bux. That should let you clear 32 no prob maybe even 33's.

Wow. Well I'm definitely leaning towards the leveling coils at this point, it would save a little money. Maybe even enough for me to swap the shocks all around.

Don't get me wrong, it would have to have been like a street tread to not hit at full lock, and even then it may have a bit. But I never had any other problem with them other than avoiding turning the wheel all the way while moving.

Gotcha. And I probably wouldn't run 34's to begin with. I already have a set of 33x10.5 ATs. Thanks for the advice!
Of course if you have a level truck and put a heavy trailer on it the nose shoots to the moon and looks waaay worse than the nose down. What about the leveling coils and an add-a-leaf?
