2008+ Tailgate Swap Question

I have a LEER canopy on my truck and I am wondering if I will have any issues with closing it if I swap to the 2008+ tailgate. I found a great deal on one locally, a basic model, no step or camera, but I am hesitant to buy it because I am worried about fitment with my canopy. I noticed that the 2008+ tailgate cap has somewhat of a lip on it, compared to my 2005 which is completely flat and smooth. I am hoping someone has ran across this.

I did that conversion this summer. And I use a retrax rool top cover which fits perfectly. And I have the step. Ill get a straight edge tomorrow and check it for you to make sure.

How Did You Find Your Tailgates?

I purchased a used '11 Lariat, has to be the only Lariat without the step in the tailgate. I want to swap out the gate for one with the step and I'm having a heck of a a time finding one. I checked a couple of big junkyards, one of whichs sells new take-off beds from body installers, and no luck. I've found a couple online and they want $1,200+, some as high as $1,600 before shipping. What kind of prices have you come across and where did you find your gates?
