1 havea 2011 f350 39 k miles when i go over a bump in road the front end shakes i can feel this in the steering wheel also. my question is is the the death wooble as everyone on this site is talking obout ? what parts are wore out. ihave seen the video from eric k would this fix my problem by adding dual stablizer and shocks or should i replace parts About 2 months ago i saw a f250 super dutydoing the same thing his tires were bouncing when he hit a bump i guess now it now my turn. thanks dale
Probably is. There is a TSB out for trucks built between 2/10 and 8/10 I believe. You could get a new factory steering stabilizer if your build date lines up.
My wobble went away with new bilstein shocks and new tires. I also got a new ford steering stabilizer but the wobble went away before I got it.
I don't know why the tires made a difference but they did. Maybe the weight, balance, and sidewall stiffness did it. I dunno. My alignment, wheel balancing, wheel camber/caster are all perfect, all the spring and steering linkage is good and stiff.
Any one or all of these things can be giving you problems. It's all in the previous threads on the issue.
My truck had the same wobble/shimmy you refer to. I had the dealer do a front end alignment before 12,000 miles. That way he had to pay the bill. Alignment issues are only covered for the first 12K. I actually had to take mine in twice to get rid of the shimmy. Adding a little extra castor seemed to take away the "shopping cart wheels" feeling.
You might be able to convince your dealer to perform the alignment under warranty. It's worth a try. I would start with the castor adjustment first. Maybe a set of shocks and a new stabilizer. BTW, did the problem just start, or has it done it from the getgo? Also, at 39K miles, are you ready for new tires?
At 39K his warranty is gone for the regular parts, basically anything except engine, driveline and emissions I'm pretty sure.
80% of my wobble went away with Bilstein shocks, this was after I had the tires balanced and re-balanced with road force twice. Mines in the shop right now and they have replaced the damper so I will see Friday probably if it's all gone.

I didn't know about the TSB. I will have to look that one up. Thanks for the info. I'm only at 15K miles since August 2010.
