Not enough voltage to starter?
Hi all, trying to get my '87 f250 together... Its been sitting for a few years but was running when it was parked. I've been stuck on just trying to get it to turn over though. It needed batteries so I got 2 brand new 850 CCA batteries along with a new positive battery cable and changed the end and cleaned up the passenger side battery ground cable. The lights in the cab and under the hood come on however on the dash the voltage only reads about 9.7 volts or so and then I turn the key to the on position the solenoid on the glow plug controller just clicks and pops for about 30 seconds then shuts off. When I turn the key all the way the starter just clicks a bit and nothing happens. I'm really confused. Could it have something to do with the solenoid on the firewall beside the passenger side battery that the hot lead off the battery cable goes to? Anyway if anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thank you
