My mig welder allows you to change the polarity by switching the leads inside the machine....... thus AC/DC capable.... if you're worried about penetration and flux core, buy bigger wire and turn it up

WOW!!!
there has been alot of replies to my post. My neighbor is a great guy!!! He is always helping me out with my truck and such. I have been reading through this post and decided that i should take my welder to some weld shop and see what i can find out.
i will post model numbers for those that requested it.
i am going to the local parts store to see if i can find a manual or to and lean more about welding

I read this book in about a week and learned a lot from it. I also took a welding class @ a local high school at night for two semesters.
