Question about the rancho's on the SD's FX4 package. Comparable, or are they, the RS5000? Thanks. Did a search and after 8 pages decided you guys would be quicker.
I herd, through the grapevine that they were manufactured by motorcraft and rancho just put there sticker on it. Probably not reliable source but that's just what I herd. Then others have told me that it is the RS5000.
Thanks T_Moss, that's what I'd been told before. I just wanted to see if guys around here had something rock solid. I'm getting a set new for $50 off a 2003 SD today.
WEll, they have to better than the standard issure Ford shocks. My 2001 SD has 16,000 miles on it and one of the front shocks is leaking. I have to make an appt. to get it in and replaced under warranty.
There seems to be an even more inflated price for the Bilsteins.
$36 vs $70.
I quess it is just a consideration of what that person's personal preference is and how much he is willing to spend. Anything aftermarket is an improvement over what we get OEM.
Sorry, I just get a little lit when talking about stock suspensions. No matter your preference, most folks would dump that garbage in a heartbeat if they knew how much better most aftermarket products were.Especially when I here the morons employed by most off-road shops pushing that junk on unsuspecting folks, telling them how "hot" it is when for a few dollars more there would be a drastic difference. I wouldn't use Ranchos to spring my little girls trike.

Hey CWB,
Tell us how you really feel...No, really, don't hold back.....
I will say this... Your statement is pretty much an insult to all of us that use Rancho shocks, but, hey, I don't take it personal. All I know is that the Rancho works best on my truck, for what I use my truck for, and for the amount of money that I was willing to spend.
If Rancho's were half as bad as you make them out to be, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be in business now...
Just my .02 cents...
The ride improvement in my truck after adding the Rancho's was so significant, that my pregnant wife even enjoys riding in it now.
Well got the set for my truck off of a 2003 FX4 F350. They had 9 miles on them. They are a hell of lot better than my OEM 2001 shocks. Not bad for $60 total. Thanks for the input fellas.
Can't argue with you guys. I guess if they work for you. I know that I went through two sets of bilsteins before I settled on my Kings and what a difference. Especially with a lifted deisel I cannot imagine running anything else. Completely rebuildable, variable valving, and look bitchin to top it off.Of course the $1600 tag for four will scare a lot of folks.
