Been a long time...

Well I havn't been on here in a while, and just recently started using the forum again. Unfortunately my 2001 7.3 started giving me some major problems almost a year ago and I ended up cutting my losses and getting rid of it. It was a great truck and I will always miss it. One of these days, Ill get another one but for now my best option was to downsize.

After dabbling in the Toyota market (Bought a Tundra and hated it), I finally found my way back to my roots and ended up with a 2005 F150 Lariat crew cab 4x4 with only 39000 miles. I got a great deal and am loving it so far.

I was posting in the 2004-2008 F150 forum and ended up scrolling on down the list and saw the 1999-2003 7.3 forum and I had to stop in and say hello. Been a long time since I posted in this section. Hope all of you are doing well.

What were some of the problems? How many miles did it have?

Well it had 180000 miles on it (not too much for a PSD I know). I had just had the trans rebuilt earlier that year to tune of around 4k. It was time for injectors, the HPOP went out, a new front hub, and brakes all around. At the time, if I had of spent the money to fix the oil pump and replace injectors along with the cost of the trans then I would have ended up spending more money in repairs than the trucks value in less than a year.

It just wasn't logical to keep it any longer. I loved that truck and wish I could have afforded to get something else and just fix the truck as I had time and money, but it was my daily driver and I needed the money to buy another truck.

They're definitely costly daily drivers. The opportunities that buying a commuter has opened up for me are tremendous. Having to worry about not having enough time/resources to fix the PSD in one weekend is very stressful. Especially if you're like me and wait and wait to find cheap used parts instead of buying new. You're a stronger man than I am, I am a sucker and doubt I'll ever be able to let her go.

It wasn't my daily driver till the tranny went out. But then I had to sell my 93 BMW 525i in order to get the tranny fixed. When the car was gone it became my daily driver.
