The gas transmissions have a wide ratio gearset, with a proper granny low(5.74,) .76 od and a deep reverse(5.24) with wider spreads in the forward gears, the diesel -42 has a 4.14:1 first, .77 od and reverse is 3.79, the diesel -47 has a 5.08 first, .77 od and 5.66 reverse. The difference in the diesel gearing alone is pretty significant, never have tried gasser gears behind a diesel, those that have done it either love it or hate it.

I was very unshure about it when I first decided to but I bought the parts truck with rebuilt tranny and mine was about to go but I love being able to take off now shifts smooth as can be and it has a lot lower reverse and it seems to hit about right in the rpm difference but its one of the best decisions I have ever made on it works great with my 3:55 gears
