water pump pulley

on friday heading out on 10000 mile trip the water pump pulley disintegrated on my n6.0 on the i5 just out of seattlle wash the pulley comptley disintegrated on close examination it was evident it was stress cracked in several places i did a search to see if there where any previous threads but could not see any but i am not very good at the search process could any one enlighten me on any previos dis cussions or bulletins thanx anyone

I've never heard of a pulley falling apart. Maybe it was defective somehow.

I remember reading about it on some very early 6.0's and the pulley/hub assy was changed/reinforced but it's never been a common problem.

thanx guys i was just curius as the tech told me he had seen several but not recently he also indicated the pulley had been redesigned

yup your tech is correct. new style pully. not seen one in awile myself.
