I got a 77 f150 that has parking lights, head lights, and tail lights. But no brake lights, turn signals front or rear, and 1 back up light. How do I rewire all of it without messing with the wiring harness? I am thinking about a custom switch panel with each wire wired to the panel, then a ground and a power wire for all.
Why not just fix it ? The wiring is pretty simple in these old trucks. Sounds like you need a new turn signal switch and maybe a new back up light socket.
I wouldn't want to rewire it. Try to see if you can get it back to factory because it will be a lot easier. The wiring in these are pretty easy so it can't be to hard to trace down.
Has any of yall looked at a wiring diagram? they are like 15 pages each. I don't like reading. And for street legality, I live in Alabama, not much illegal. I have checked the back up sockets, everything good. I was thinking it may be the Turn signal switch or the 4 way plug I hooked up. If I could get wiring cab back, I would rewire all the lights cab back and rule out any of it. I got the wire and the diagrams, but probably not enough patience.
listen, no one is trying to mess you up here. these a simple diagrams and believe me, a ground could easily cause the problem. I'm all for rewiring when the wires have gotten pretty seasoned after the years but if you do it wrong you're just asking for the cab to catch on fire. done it once, wasn't pretty.
where did I say I was sad? I didn't the last time I checked. Sad response? not really... sad question? nope, not at all. I aint sad, cause there's no reason for me to be. I can rewire the whole set up and prove yall wrong, but if I was missing one thing to check for, I might as well ask. and for everyone whom is actually helping instead of wasting my time, the Neutral safety switch is absent on my truck, not there, and I had back up lights without it. And no, I didn't remove it. The previous owner's father-in-law did. Not sure why.
@ Monster baby, is your pic a gremlin from the movie "gremlins"? and how do yall get the capability to close, open, clean, edit, etc a thread?
It's that little title of "Super Moderator" under his handle that puts him in charge.
The only thing I've rewired on mine is from the cab back because the wires were left pretty much exposed and had worn through and such. This is what I used Mr. Tailight
