so after replacing the timing set in my 81 Bronc i found that i have no power. So i replaced the clogged EGR plate and now all the truck does is backfire. So i put another carb on it and the same prob
I've had my distributorin/ out on mine a few times and the only real time I had dramas was either A: I was 180deg out when I re-installed it and,
B: reset all timing marks after fitting cam, but left all the spark leads as they were. I had marked them. Consequently I was 1 cylinder off in the timing as the PO had phased it that way so the vac advance cannister was in a better position to time it. Rechecked it and put leads in correct order and was fine. Flattened the battery trying though
kay so there seems to be more probs deep down. so I'm just going to pull it. I have another mod lined up just gotta get a job to buy the trk and to really set me in a pissy mood snow has started to fly in Saskatchewan
i had similar issues finally traced it to the ignition coil, bad connection with the horseshoe style clip connector, changed it out for a gm style with posts cleared it right up
