I thought I read that on a post by Subford a looooonnnnnnnngggg time ago....Thats why I said I wasn't 100% sure...lol

Other than the Door Jamb sticker, the dash plate......That's the only places I know of 110%....Again, that was me, trying to remember something from a while back that i may have quite possibly read incorrectly....

I just got this truck and the title says it's a 90 but the cab vin says 92 and the front clip is a 92. It has the 92 interior. The reg. Sticker matches the cab. I called the previous owner and he said that it has a salvage cab and that he took it to some government place where they searched both vins. they came up clean and then they had to search the frame to find the vin that matches the title. he told me that when I get the title in my babe that the new title will have both vins. I'm sweating bullets because he probably just gave me a title for another truck. I usually check this sort of thing but not this time. On a side note, the only gauge working is the speedo. Will the 92 cluster work with a 90 wiring harness? If it doesn't then that will ease my mind and I might start trusting his story. Where can I find the vin on the motor if it's a 4.9

Not 110% sure, but it SHOULD....Might have to do a bit of repinning, etc...But it should...I know the clips will work, etc...

My question is HOW is the speedo workin, I looked at a 1990 and a 1991 in the JY looking for a cluster, and they were both cable driven speedometers...

Where are you located? Here in KY, as long as the title vin, and the dash/door vin matches up...You're good...Thats all thats looked for here, is everything to line up vin # wise...

Hmmm....Here's to me thinkin out loud...

Call your local DMV, and "Hypothetically" ask them if you had a wrecked truck, and used that frame/title and got a used cab with a seperate vin....If you could mesh them...

OR

Ask about getting a dash vin ID tag, and a door jamb sticker made up...lol It's a shot..

If not, then ask your guy for the paperwork (If any) for the cab swap, etc...

That sounds like a load of CHIT to me. He should of said something upfront BEFORE you bought the truck.

As for the gauges not working, NO the 90 harness will NOT plug it to the 92 dash. The 92 spedometer is the hard thing to get working, it gets its signal from the VSS and the 90 is cable driven. I think you are right, he just sold you a 92 truck, with a 90 title

Sounds like he got ripped off.......Sad to say it, sad to hear it...But it just takes a little bit of knowledge, and the results are STUNNING....
