Question Daily driver

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and just curious.

Does anyone own a 6.7 as their daily driver? Or does everyone here have one because they use it for work/towing etc?

What would a 3.31 4x4 6.7 diesel get unloaded MPG wise?

For us it is the "third vehicle" We ar lucky to be able to do that.

We use it one weekends for running around and such. Small trailer for home stuff.

Every third weekend we drive it to cabin (about 4.5 hours, pull camper and boat for fun).

Still have 6.0, ordering 6.7. Others can give you mileage info, but it seems good.

Bumobee, welcome!
Please do a search on the thread here, this was brought up and discussed not too long ago. Search daily driver and you should find it very quickly. There are a lot of DD around.

Welcome to FTE!

There are a lot of variables but unloaded driving I get between 15-20 mpg.

Stop and go really kills mileage.

I drive 3 miles to work each day, plus a lunch trip. At least once per week, i'll get some highway miles in and the regen attempts will catch up. No probs after a year of ownership. You should see around 15-17 mpg in city driving with a conservative driving style.

I drive 84 miles a day (roundtrip) on the highway, sometimes stop and go here in Illinois, but I have been getting 17.4 mpg regardless of my speed. I run 65-70 mph, but sometimes find myself going 80...the truck has a mind of its own! Almost 18,000 miles on the ticker.

I drive 52 miles round trip to the train station every day. It is mostly secondary roads with little to no traffic on them. I am usually going between 45 and 55 MPH (I like to take my time and savor the ride along with the scenery). I average between 17 and 19 MPG, usually closer to the 17.8 side of things. I just turned 12,000 miles on the truck and have had it since April '11.

I get between 16.5-21 mpg in my truck unloaded. Like the others have said...the short trips with a cold engine produce bad fuel economy....but then again my bad fuel economy is better than my great FE in the 6.4 I used to have.

I have an F-350 with the 3.31 gears. If your commute has a lot of highway driving, I would say you would be able to expect a solid 17+ in your commute.

My F250 is my daily driver. I drive 7 miles or so one way to work. My to and from work mileage is running around 14.5 to 15. On the highway, unloaded, I get 19.5. I have the 3.31 rear end and 17 inch wheels.

I use mine as a daily driver for a round trip run of 50 miles. My mpg is typically 17.8. My drive in the am is a steady 70 mph but on the way home stop and go. I have 3.55 gears. Mpg has been as high as 21 mpg on long drives.

I supplement my work driving with a motorcycle ride 1-2 days a week until rain or snow hits. I don't tow (yet) and often don't haul much either. I would have been good to go with a F-150 but I really wanted the 6.7l diesel. I am just interested in the engine/transmission qualities of a vehicle. I've heard people ask what do I need a pick up truck for. The answer is usually answered when I buy stuff at Lowes, haul furniture, or haul as a favor for others. Every family should have one truck!

Heard this quote the other day from a comedian that is 100% appropriate...

"I bought a truck because I got tired of my friends never calling me to help them move!"
