there are two different c4's, 1 - has a big bell housing, 168 tooth flywheel, and a dipstick in the side of the pan. 2 - has a small bell housing, 157 tooth flywheel, and a dipstick that goes into the case. By big and small, I mean the bolt pattern that bolts to the trans side of the bell housing the engine side is still the same. there are differences in the older trans (68-69). Both can be used if you have all the parts listed above. just a note I've only seen the large style in the trucks, so maybe the small type was a car thing.
