Okay... so my new truck (99.5 F350 PSD w. 55,000 km) is in the shop getting safety, emissions, tranny & torque convertor flush, brakes, ball joint, and alignment so I can pick it up next week.
I asked about getting the front and rear diff fluid changed, and change the fluid in the 4x4 transfer case. The dealer wanted $250 CDN for each end, and $120 CDN for the 4x4 transfer case.
Am I missing something about how difficult this is to do? I thought it was just clean off the dirt, take off the cover, wipe out with rags, get a new gasket, or use sealant then put back together and fill with recommended fluid...
I did a search for articles walking through this, but couldn't find details for this drivetrain.
Any thoughts??
Oh yeah, and $112 to replace a fuel filter. Now that seems really steep!

ive been inside my diffs a couple times so far, first new Auburn rear, then later for an oil change, now tommarrow again for new gears, its that simple bolts, and gasket maker, plus some oil!! dang i would pay more than $25 in labor for that easy buisness!!

When I last got my tranny serviced, I requested to have my differntial fluid changed. They couldn't do it because they didn't stock the special synthetic weight that is originally used, told me that I had to get that at the dealer. I'm sure that is a big part of the price you are quoted, however, the prices you are mentioning still seem a little steep.
I did mine myself and it was a snap! I did the rear and front, but not the t-case yet. I used the Amsoil 75 140. It cost about $33 online for the fluids for each diff, and the permatex high temp gasket sealer $3. It only took about one hour per diff. Make sure to add the additive if you have an LS in the rear, the dealer will have it, its around $8. All and all it cost me about $79 bucks.
