Blue Smoke and Clatter at Idle
I went to look at a 91 Mercedes 350 SD today. Its a six cylinder diesel. It has 224K on it, was $5000 now marked down to $3000. The interior and body of the car are in incredible shape. Truely amazing.
The engine clatters pretty bad at idle. Letting it run for an hour didnt imrpove things much. Also blue smoke came out the tailpipe. When you presed on the pedal more and more blue smoke came out.
It didnt get better after warming up. Although when you rev the engine it sounds pretty good and has nice power.
The injectors had all new return lines going to them. But they themselves were old looking.
Whats the blue smoke? Bad rings?
