Are the Viair systems worth the money. Looking for a system to fill air bags,
pump up tires & possibly air horns. Have looked a the PN10005 system
More importantly are they reliable.
Viair seems to be about as reliable as you can get without spending the big money on something like Oasis. For limited duty cycle you could probably get by with something cheaper, but Viair will definitely stand the test of time.
I have been using the #10007 system for about 13 months now for air bags, topping off trailer and truck tires, and air horns. It gets used a lot, runs about 10 minutes every day for a rough estimate. I have had zero issues with it, really happy with it, would recommend it to anyone.
In the spring I did have to run wd-40 through it, needed lube for some reason. It was running slowly but after the lube it has been great all summer.
I would recommend a 100% duty cycle pump if you use it like you say. It runs a lot for tire filling and air horns.
I bought one for my Boat. The pressure switch was bad the next morning after installation. I thought it was the pump so I installed a Firestone Compressor keeping the small 1 gallon air tank. I also finally swapped out the pressure switch and it all runs great. I use it for air ride seats for the Boat.
Still have the Viair pump on the bench awaiting a new home in some future project.
