I have a 1991 F150XLT that keeps blowing the brake light fuse. Sometimes I can go a few days without it blowing, other days it will blow as many as I am willing to change. Sometimes it blows while parked, but most of the time it blows while driving. I have a 100+ mile daily commute and don't want to cause an accident because I don't have any brakelights. I don't have a clue as to where to start looking to cure this issue. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Do you have it wired for a trailer? If so, that's the first place I'd look.
Also, check the wiring around the brake light switch. It's on the brake pedal arm, up high. Sometimes the wiring up there gets messed up from getting kicked, or from people wiring stuff in under the dash...
i agree with trying the going up in fuse size but only do it if you have time to look around it and see if you see a short or some smoke or smell smoke and then pull the fuse. dont try driving it with the bigger fuse or you could end up with bigger problem
this right here is why I like to remove my bed for fuel sender/pump/tank situations...
You should check your wiring all the way to and from the tail lights. If you have a wire that is "dead shorting" to the body or frame then you'll keep blowing fuses until you put a 25a fuse in... and then you start popping bulbs... trace your wires and find where it's broken or grounding itself.
