I love loud, but resonation droaning in my ears is't my idea of a good time either. I took out the stereo because when i drive the truck i love the experience, straight axel, the rumble of a V8, windows down on a hot day, you know old school, not real big on comfort. You guys are great, you have givin me alot of things to process. Its to expensive to send what i have back, but there are always options. the one thing for sure is i will get it done (thaks to you guys) and i will do it myself (except i may need the muffler shop to make a bend for me)LOL<LOL<LOL I love the pics of what you guys (M or F) have posted they are truly some works of art. I LOVE THIS PLACE CALLED FTE! PS the parts im workin with are in my album, for some reason i couldent get the picture to move to this thread

Mine exits under the rear of the running boards, like Moe's, except I have chrome turn downs. You can definatly hear it at stop lights, it's a tad louder that I would like. The mufflers are just muffler shop turbos. I may take it back and have an H pipe added. I told the guys at the shop that I wanted it quiet. Their defination of quiet is different from mine.

My 55 will have side exit exhaust, but I intend to run an x pipe in my system. My understanding from all the exhaust gurus is that the x pipe mellows the sound somewhat. We shall see.

Are those running boards something you made yourself or can you buy them already built?

I built the running boards. After I mounted my stock ribbed running boards, I decided that they didn't have the "look" for the truck, so I set out to build my own. I think I posted the build on this site. I'll have to look. They're not that hard to build, just takes a little time and patience.

Look here for info. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-darkside.html

Not as fancy as Drewski, but the idea is the same. The lip over the cutout is just brake line hand-formed, welded and filled.

There are lots of other mods to the bed and boards, tho.

When the time comes, I will be running mine out the rear! No more deafening for me! But I have thought about those Cherry Bombs.

I have Magnaflows and turndowns(they came with the truck). All I can say is they are very loud and I don't think they'll be on long before I go with something quiet and dump it out the back. Anybody know of a compact muffler that is relatively quiet?
