What brake controller are you guys running?
I have a pretty old school one and I'm going to be replacing it, I don't tow that much so I'm not looking to go all out, just something pretty good and reliable for those few times a year.
I went with the prodigy p2 in my wifes 06 dodge. I did a lil research when i was looking for one and the prodigy seemed to be the way to go. Its been working fine and we havent had any trouble with it. Its a lil pricey over a 100.00 iirc. Its sopost to be the best brake controller with out haveing to tap in to your brake lines. Easy to use to. And it mounts close to your dash so your not always hiting your knee on it.
i had an old tekonsha in my 91 an i mean old by 87 model.Worked great till i sold my truck, never had any problems out of it might look into another just newer this one was as big as a vhs tape. in my 97 it's a wally world pos half the time it doesn't work till i don't want it to then it locks up the brakes.
Kyle, thats about what I have as well, but mines not quite that old. Its not working either. Was fun stopping the horse trailer a few weeks ago with 2 huge horses in it. doh!
There's a big difference between a cheapo and a nice one. Depends what you want to spend. I have a cheapo in my pickup. It works fine, but it's not that smooth. I have a Prodigy in our Excursion, man, that thing is so much nicer. I tow the same trailer with both rigs and what you feel when the trailer brakes come on or off is the biggest difference. The Prodigy feathers the braking power on and off very smoothly and you don't have to adjust the intensity between different conditions like highway versus stop and go traffic.

Yeah but id rather have it not work then lock em up. had that happen a few times on monday when i was towing a trailer with my friends chevy truck on it back to va from pa. Sorry
I have a tekonsha that is about seven or eight years old and it works good. My only complain is the adjustment is real touchy. You barely move the adjustment and it changes the brakeing force. The newer ones with the readout I bet are easier to adjust.

Yes, that's the main reason I upgraded when I got this truck about 5 yrs ago. Some other benefits are very easy to see and adjust the breaking power if needed, display lights up in red if there is ever a disconnect, proportional breaking seams to be very good and applies more breaking to the trailer when breaking hard. I think it operates very smooth and is worth a few dollars more.
Thanks Rich, I'll have to look into it more. In July I got the MorRide independent supension put on complete with disk brakes. My God, what a difference in braking. Night and day, I almost feel that I can tail gate now, JK!!
Yes we did, no flats in 5,000 miles, a record for us. Still have a lot of 'chucking', I am now looking into some sort of air ride hitch and/or demco pin box. The 5er lands on the pickup so hard sometimes I swear its going to break something and probably will if I don't fix that problem. Too bad your not going to make it down this year.
