PCV ???

There is a long dog house on the back of my drivers side valve cover. Hose goes into the air intake between air filter and turbo. I am assuming that it is some kind of PCV. Should it be changed periodically?

Most of us do a modification to the doghouse. Here is the write-up.Some build the oil trap, others just run the hose like I did.

Welcome to guzzle's CCV mod web page

No filter lives in the doghouse.

There is no scheduled maintenance, but the last time I took if off I cleaned it out with some solvent and brake cleaner.

You don't want to remove it unless you have new o-rings for re-install. CCV O-rings at Dieselorings.com

When I did the CCV mod, I built one of these to trap the oily mist before venting to atmosphere.
