I have a factory auxiliary tranny cooler and noticed that the mount that holds the cooler in place may take a bigger cooler. Does ford have a bigger cooler to clip in place of smaller cooler? This is on 2011 F150 FX4 5.0 CC.
Your very right, the mounting brackets are much larger then the current cooler so one would think that a larger one could be installed and I'm positive it can but I asked this very same question to Parts at Bartow Ford last week when they activated my TBC and the answer I got was Nope!
I got the feeling that there are larger coolers available for that large bracket you mentioned but as soon as you mention EcoBoost my dealer gets VERY "by the book"
You don't have the EB so you shouldn't have a problem getting one.
I spoke with a friend's son who works at another local Ford dealer and he told me that "Off the record" I could easily get a larger one but I can't mention EB when I order it...
Apparently Ford has put out strict rules concerning the EB to dealers to not promote or allow any changes in the vehicles... I took it that they are closely watching how these trucks do in their current form with no changes.
This other Ford dealer did show a much larger one, double in size, for the 5.0 and 6.2 with the max tow package so it looks like that is the one we need. I'm trying to get a part number from him.
