I don't expect to get 60K miles out of them, not the kind of tire they are, but they sure give good grip on the snow. It's still too warm for much ice so I'll give another report on that after some miles of ice driving.
I have gotten almost 50K out of my Cooper Discovery STT's. I get new shoes today!

They are good for up to about 4' of snow.

Took delivery of my 2012 F250 LWB a couple of nights ago, and last night we had our first snow.
So, off I go to The Tire Rack to order snows and wheels (LT265/70R-17 General Altimax Arctic E and American Racing Dagger wheels 17x8).
According to Damon, there is a relatively low inventory of snow tires already, so glad mine are in stock.
Thanks, Damon, for the great insight and service.

05 F350 CC LB 4x4 285 60series 18 inch BFG AT's rarely use 4wheel drive unless it is stormy or icy, or in my never plowed back lane. I don't normally carry any weight at all.now if I am actually going looking for trouble or going into the back country, I will throwing 2-3 5 gallon buckets of turkey grit. not so much for weight as to throw under the tires when I get stuck. It runs 5-7 bucks for a 50lb bag, does not dissolve when it gets wet(like cat litter or salt) and does not cause rust like salt will when it leaks. 2 cupfulls under each tire and you will think your tires are made of velcro. personal experience I could not move the truck enough to even make my towrope slack off, no matter rocking it easy or full bore, after turkey grit idles out without even the smallest trace of wheel slip

I have to ask - what is turkey grit? The only turkeys we have hear are either running across the road freaking out my retriever or in the poultry section of our grocery stores (for awhile anyway).
I am guessing it is added to what you feed the turkeys?

Yes that would be correct. Any place that sells chicken feed. Like farm supply stores.

A real bear to get out if you want to haul something.

So far this winter no weight needed as I did in my Ranger. We had a freezing rain two weeks ago and she rode fine in 2 wd, I was definately impressed with how she handled.

Tires make all the difference. If I do add weight, it would be 5 - 40# bags of sand. Can use the sand for traction if needed and then fill in the low spots around the house come spring.

Yup crushed granite. Very much grip in wet snow that is packing down into ice. Enough that you go from not being able to move, to enough grip to pull out much larger trucks at the same time

dotn take much space as its only a few inches on the bottom, you have a full bed it freezes parallel to bed surface pretty much. and thats a few hundred pounds at least. and in summer it gets rid of itself.
