Finally Snow!!

Finally got our first decent snow storm, Ive been wondering if it was ever going to come. Only about 3 inches, (probly enough for a chevy to get stuck) just enough for a superduty to go play in. This truck is awsome in the deep stuff and its still got open differentials. Im hoping to get an air locker in either the front or back one of these days.

Good luck with that. I drove 2WD trucks for 10 years or so. I had to add weight and take weight out (MPG stunk) on a weekly basis. When I could afford a new 4X4 life was good.

Yeah. We are expecting only about 1-3 inches or snow tonight but it is all going to change to freezing rain. The worst of the worst.

For all you guy who love winter, please ask for all of Massachusetts' snow for Christmas this year. I can do just fine with no snow.

We just got done with 16" of the stuff today. It's now turned to torrential rains and we have remnants of a tropical storm hitting us with and 30 to 50mph winds supposedly going to hit tonight....Oh joy....

Talking Sounds like Western Washington.

Sounds like western Washington to me. By the way, where did you get that cool front bumper? By the way my limited slip has made all the diffents in the world. Check out my bragging on the winter driving tread posted earlier.

I actually made the bumper , fabbed it from scraps.

Now Ive been wondering if I should just get a limited slip in the rear and then maybe do the air locker up front. I had/have a limited slip in my old 79 chevy and I busted it once, had it replaced and now it doesnt seem to be working. Its an auburn I think. What would an FX4 with the limited slip have in it?

Love that bumper

I love that bumper, and the fact that you made for cheap makes it even cooler. I love to have the specs for it so I could make one myself. I am not sure what limited slip is in my truck. I need to find out though. I am running 3.73 right now and I am thinking of putting in 4.10 to correct for the 35" tires. I don't think I would go with the locker up front unless you plan on doing a lot of hard 4X4. By the way, your truck looks great.

nice ride and ditto on the bumper

If you are looking to keep both rear tires spinning I would not mess around with "limited slip" clutch type. Our trucks are heavy and with 35" or larger tires exert alot of torque on the drive train. I ran a Detroit Locker in my 02 and will be replacing the factory worn out LS unit on my 04 with a locker in the near future. An Arb or Eaton air locker is also nice.....I just think the simpler the better.

I you have a drawing or specs on that bumper I would appreciate getting a copy of it....have some pipe and channel laying around in the garage.

In the past, when all I ever had was a 2wd truck, I hated the snow/ice. But now, after I bought a 4x4, I look forward for the snow.

Hey thanks guys! Ill get some closer up pics of the bumper, dont really have any specs on it since I actually built it on the truck. I could take some measurements or whatever if needed. Its all 1/4 inch or thicker steel, I built it to withstand a deer/antelope impact.

my 99 xlt 4x4 has no limited slip, when i bought it i "assumed" it would have it. its a joke in the snow. why do they call it 4x4 when only two wheels really spin? it would cost me a grand to add it on,, at that price id get a rear locker,, in a dream a front locker too. bet one would get his money back when selling it.. dont u think?

In Washington we just got our first decent snow fall last weekend, and then monday after noon it was all gone and then tuesday it was flooding. The flooding got pretty bad in places, they actually had to shut down I-5 in places and its a big mess on the coast and other place around here.

We finally got snow here, too!

Blizzards warnings until Friday... AND Flash Flood warnings! One of the few places on earth where THAT can happen.

Can't wait for the clouds to clear so I can get pics of it!
