This issue comes and goes but since it's getting close to Halloween I figured I'd go ahead and post a question about the haunted interior lights in my wife's Lariat.
The crew cab has two interior dome lights. The light for the rear seated passengers works fine. Center light comes on when doors are opened and the side lights turn on when the switch is operated.
The forward dome light is possessed. The center light works normally but the side lights hardly ever work when the switch is operated. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Does the GEM control this device? If so, wouldn't it affect both lights?
My center light comes on via door switch or dimmer switch. The 2 side lights only come on via their own individual rocker switch independent of the center light.
Center lights and rear light, both the center's come on when door opened or switched on. The Map lights on either of those fixtures can only be turned on with the individual switches on mine, just like Robin's.
The center lamp in the forward dome light fixture works normally. Door open, light on etc. The map lights do not work when the switches are operated. Sometimes they work, most times they don't. The map lights work fine on the rear dome fixture.
I guess I need to track down an electrical schematic. I suppose the center dome light must be operated by the GEM but the map lights might be on a separate power supply? Maybe a bad ground on the dome light will not allow the map lights to work while still allowing the center light to function normally? I guess this would make sense if the GEM is controlling the center dome light via the ground signal.
EDIT: Changed "side light" to "map light" since that term makes more sense.
