Here is the update so far..........I believe I may have fixed my problem. After replacing both batteries and the CPS, both to no avail, my truck was still bucking really bad. This morning, after a 3 1/2 hour trip yesterday fighting it all the way, I decided to check out the screen at the FPR. Wouldn't you know it, it was clogged so bad that I'm surprised that it was getting any fuel at all. Cleaned the screen and made another 2 hour trip this afternoon. No buck at all. Truck ran much smoother too.
Thanks to all the people that offered input and guidance. I love this website. You guys are awesome.
b-n-f, are you talking about removing the T-20 screws and going in from there?
Is the FPR spring in there?
I have seen Guzzle and Diesel O-ring's write ups on changing out the spring, but I don't know how to get to the filter.
After replacing the CPS, 2 new batteries, cleaning the FPR screen, Changing all filters, the "miss" seems to still be present. I removed the valve covers and checked the gaskets, plugs and harnesses. Everything seemed to be fine. No burned wires, or plugs that I could determine. No burned plastic or rubber smell, either. I have gone from 19 mpg, to 8. Truck now feels like it is pulling a heavy load, all the time. Scanned the truck, no codes. Ran diagnostics check and got the following codes
P1111
P0476
P0472
Could these codes have anything to do with the original issue? Cananyone tell me where to start on fixing the codes.
One other thing, after putting the valve covers back, when I started my truck it had a hissing, whining sound. Sounded like it was coming from the turbo. Could this be the wastegate stuck?
Sorry about the lack of much more information. I am just about ready to give up.
After almost a year of this problem, I decided to throw in the towel. Took the truck to the ford house today for a complete engine diagnostic. There are things that needed to be tested that I don't have the know how or tools to do. Hopefully I will know something later this afternoon. As long as I know what the problem is, I can fix it. I just got tired of throwing money at it hoping to hit the problem.
If I find out what the problem is, I will give another update. Thanks to everyone for the advice and in put.
Just got an update from Ford. Evidently my truck is weird. Doing the diagnostic, they can get it to duplicate the issue. However, where you would expect there to be a drop in the waveform, mine is spiking.
They were thinking CPS until I told them it has been changed several times in the past few months, with the last time through Ford.
Told them there is no chip in the truck.
They say their next step is to go under the covers. Unfortunately I need my truck to move a horse this weekend.
After I pick up my truck, I will see if I can get a printout of tests and results.
This is a sad, sad situation. My guess they will hose you without any real results for you to go on. I hope to high heaven that I'm wrong, good luck!!!!

To my surprise yesterday, when I picked up my truck, they didn't charge me anything. They still didn't have any clue why my truck is doing what it's doing. I'm taking it back one day next week for them to get into the valve covers to check harnesses and gaskets. I just don't have the know how or tools to test these items.
Ok guys. I hope this is the final update on this issue for me. Took the truck back to Ford yesterday. After a year long battle, I (we) believe my problem is fixed.
It appears that it was the CPS all along. The Ford house couldn't find anything else wrong, everything kept pointing to the CPS. After 2 days of testing, they finally decided to replace the CPS, just to see. Well, low and behold, that resolved the problem.
Well, I had replaced the CPS 2 times, plus had taken it in for the recall on the CPS. Ford said they replaced it. So I figured couldn't be it then.
Well, come to find out, the dealership that did the recall, just inspected it and it looked like the new style, so they left in there and didn't replace it.
Long story short, from now on, when all you very wise gentlemen on this website say to replace something, I will do it. Regardless of whether I have already replaced it or if someone else told me they replaced it.
Thanks again guys for all your help on this matter. I should have listened to you more.
