stupid question did you get the tow bill taken care of by them also did you get money for a rental car(for the time the truck is down now and the estamated time to fix it at the body shop) and storage fee's lost of work if any and any damage to you so you are getting 4300 and keep the truck???
also is the truck going to have a SALVAGE title now if so no matter what you do to it you will never get squat back out of it!
if so here is what I would do (well maybe) go to a bone yard pick up the same year frame do a body swap (frame couple hundred) or buy a one that is barly running then do a straight axle swap in the front put a 9 inch in the rear and then put the lift on then it should drive like arrow
Tow bill is all set, rental car is all set (got a GMC though), storage fees are set, and I'll have to ask today about the title when I go to the body shop. Stupid questions are the ones you don't ask
Well so far I am happy. The ford parts list for the front suspension came to a cost of 3000 bucks for a list price. I can get the parts for 2200. I just bought an ARB air locker for the front axle, $837 with the air compressor. I just got the 6" skyjacker lift kit, $1400. I also got the superlift superrunner steering, $360 bucks. So I'm somewhat on my way to bringing the beast back to life. My uncle fixed the frame today, and he said it was a lot better than he thought. It only took him about an hour. I have to buy the ford parts tomorrow.
Justin,
I think you're on the right track. You're doing what I would do. I get attached to my vehicles, and hate to let them go. You have the chance to make the best of a bad situation and I think you are doing the right thing. You can now fix it up the way you have always wanted it, partially using insurance money. I like what you are doing. Keep us posted.
I ordered some wheels today, got a decent deal I think. I got the American Eagle 118's. They were $751.80 from 4wheelparts and I called Summit Racing, they were $685 but needed to be special ordered (1-2weeks). I called 4wheelparts and they went from 751.80 to $665.80 just by me telling them summit had it for less. So the wheels with the center caps came to $680.80 total. I don't really like 4wheelparts but I went with them because of the price. Summit Racing has excellent service and I really like their company but I don't like how 1/2 of their stuff is on back order. I tried to get the Skyjacker lift kit with them but they were missing 1 part. Now I just need to go buy my 35" BFGs and get my 4.09 gears.
She's gonna be bad! Our year model trucks look the best up on 35's if you ask me. I always notice them more than a lifted SuperDuty or whatever, just because there are not that many of them around that are lifted.
Hey Justin, I'm not sure if you're totally sold on the skyjacker lift, but something that might be worth looking into is the Dick Chepek lift at performancelifts.com. Go to the group discount area. Jeff made an offer to Bronco/F150 owners on a different forum for this group discount. The parts for the lift are very stout.
I'm well underway of getting my truck repaired. The front suspension is done, the rear suspension is 1/2 done. My front differential is busted, my 4.09 gears and ARB air locker is going to be installed. I need to put my rear leaf springs in. I did the front suspension first. I put it on the ground before I took apart the rear and man did it look funny. Looked like I could have been able to do wheelies with it! So far it's coming along slow and steady but it's starting to look good and look like a truck again. My new bumper and steering system is coming in on monday. So heres the to do list:
Install:
New bumper
Superrunner steering
Finish installing rear springs
Remove front sheetmetal/finish body work
Install new 4.09 gears for the front diff/ARB air locker
Double check everything is tight
Except for a few minor things it's almost done. It looks great with the red shock boots, springs, and radius arms. I'm going to run the 32's on it for a little while, it doesn't look too bad. I'll have some pictures of the completed project when I get it back.
