I actually prefer the TTB, better ride. Not sure what I'm going to do. I think I'm going to have them put a d44 ttb in there with 4.09 gears so it'll take 35's. Maybe order my 6" lift and just install it verses buying a radius arm, springs, shocks, and crap that I'd have to replace if I lifted it anyway.
I lived in the area for 30+ years, I was a courier that drove down it everyday, and I worked selling cars at the Dodge place about 1981. Even 20 years ago it was a terrible road.
The only thing entertaining about that road is
the pink elephant
You got away lucky, my uncle was rear ended at XMAS time (he was not at fault - was a moron that lost control speeding) on RT114. Totaled the car and wrecked his back. His Escort got rear ended by a Mustang.
Interesting, I live off on a side street off of 114 so I can't avoid it. Hopefully I'll be moving this spring/summer and I'll be getting away from it (and getting a garage!) hehe.
My trucks frame is bent pretty bad. It was up on the lift when I got to the shop, was able to look down the frame and it looks like a "C". The guy said it can be straightened but, to tell ya the truth, I don't even want the truck anymore. I don't think it'll ever be the same with the frame bent that bad. My uncle owns a body shop and is going to go down and take a look. I want them to total it, I don't want the thing. Ugh what a week! I'll get some pics up in my gallery soon.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Ughh Another Accident!!
Once the frame is bent, especially as severely as you indicated, the truck will never be the same again, no matter how well you have it straightened. Most insurance companies should be willing to total it if you incurr as much damage as you described, combined with a bent frame. My condolences -- I'll help you dig the grave.
The guy said he could straighten it, and I know it's not going to be the same, however why is that? I know that once you bend metal, it's never as strong. I mean the whole front suspension is toast. It looks like my axle caught her framerail in the pictures, and just bent the whole thing. I really want them to total it I don't even want it anymore.
Justin sorry about Green Thunder- that truck looked like a finished labor of love, and accidents always seem to take out the nice vehicles not the junkers.
People say it'll never be the same because so many of us have had experience with cars that were fixed f'ed up that they truly were never the same. Dog-walking, real funny tire wear patterns, creaks and new rattles are just some of what we're talking about. However, in defense of me and other people who work in decent body shops it may be able to be fixed and fixed right. People said "junk that truck quick" when my frame broke in 2 places (immediately in front and behind the engine crossmember, left frame rail), but I fixed it 'cause what the hell it's no show truck. And it's stronger and better than OEM F150 now, almost a year later.
If they don't/won't total it ride the adjusters HARD, and get real nit-picky, call them a lot and just be a big pain in the ***. I've seen and most of you guys have too insurance companies flat out rip people off that get their vehicles fixed after accidents. For every "i got the insurance to pay this and that blah blah" story, I can tell you ten where the policy holder got screwed and got back a totally rigged repair. So if you have to get it fixed, do so and continue to drive it. You may find yourself intimately involved with Green Thunder again, or maybe not. If it's not the same drive as before sell it, and good luck Justin.
"Dog Walking" -
Have you ever watched a puppy walk when his back legs take a different path than his front? Your tires will do the same thing, the front and rear will track differently...
If you look at the tires from above, they'll look kinda like this:
0------0
-->0------0
(sorry about the arrow, but the "drawing" kept automatically aligning itself with the left margin)
You know how a puppy in the awkward stage like 8 months kinda runs sideways at ya when they're excited.
Dog tracking huh? Makes sense to me now you mention it Mil1ion, never heard that before though.
Anyway this is off-post Justin, and I don't believe anyone's saying that's what your trucks gonna turn out like once it's fixed, okay buddy
