Truck was on the ground today, I got to drive it a little bit moving it around. I fabricated a bracket and got the superlift steering on there. Feels much better than what it used to (new steering box). The exhaust tailpipes came out because it was hitting on the rear springs, that will have to be bent a tad. It got painted tonight, so I just have to put the bumper on, get the toe in/out of the steering right, and for the most part it'll be done and driveable. Still a lot more I need to do, but I'll be able to drive it. It felt good to fire it up after 50 days without it. With any luck I will be driving it tomorrow.
Well I took it out on the road today. Feels really good. The alignment doesn't pull to one side, the steering wheel is not centered but we can fix that (still need to get it to an alignment shop). The only problem I noticed was that a spring or something broke in the left rear drum. It's rolling around and jingling at slow speeds. I'm going to take care of that soon. I also noticed that where my feet are on the floor, I can feel vibrations through the floorboard. Not sure what that is. Other then that it rides excellent. The suspension feels better than stock. It's a little bumpy on the small bumps but I'm sure there is a break in type period for having new springs. It's hard to explain it but the truck feels much more secure, stable, and well planted on the road. I wasn't able to take hard corners but it doesn't seem to have too much extra body roll. So the preliminary test drive is coming out great!
