Mission accomplished - you helped me understand how to adjust my choke. Before reading this, I wasn't sure if the plate should be fully closed or partially open when cold, or what exactly turning the black choke housing accomplished. Thanks!
I had the same thought, this was a very helpful post.
It is so satisfying that my proclivity for the retention of obscure minutia, while quickly forgetting the necessary, can be useful.
The problem isn't the retention of obscure minutia (that actually works to our benefit many times here, thank you!) but, rather, the regurgitation and confabulation of the same, usually in excruciating detail via lengthy, verbose prosodies without enough pictures.

If I understood what you said it would probably make me either throw up or think you called me a liar. Glad I don't understand. But, I will add more pictures next time.

The only way the bank will let us (the family) bail her out is to assume her original mortgage, which is almost twice as much as her house is currently on the market for. Offer was made by a buyer Friday night, it'll be submitted tomorrow morning. Either she comes back with me this week, or in 30-45 days.

Sounds like you don't have much choice. I do know how the price of houses has dropped in the Chicago area as we've tracked houses in our old neighborhood west of Elgin. Last I heard one that was originally on the market just before we sold 6 years ago has come down almost 50%, and they've been paying exorbitant taxes all the while. Glad we got out before sunset.

What I need is someone (not with the same last name - Arm's-length transaction) with pre-approved ~$105,000 financing or seasoned cash to buy it, we can later buy it from that person.
Gents, I just purchased the truck.84 f150 4.9 the carb looks to be rebuilt and it has a mechanical fuel pump. The gas tank is an old race car tank strapped down in the bed. Ok first of all I have to start the truck every morning with starting fluid but after that it will start fine for the rest of the day with out starting fluid. In every gear with the pedal about a quarter of the way down I feel a miss/jerk/hesitation but if I get on it with the pedal about 3/4 of the way down there is no miss. Now on the interstate once I get up to about sixty five and the pedal gets at about 1/4 of the way down it starts this miss again. The wired thing is it's not consistent. I also noticed the carburetor has no choke plate. And no fuel line hooked up to the choke. I'm assuming the round device mounted on the carb is the choke. I was thinking of installing a electronic fuel pump? Would the timing be the problem? Should I just tweek the distributor and see if that fixes it or is it fuel air mix or compression?? I don't know what to do please help.
