CTS Alerts: What level?

Hello all:
I recently got my Edge Insight CTS and DP Tuner chip installed... I'm lgoing to program my CTS to alert me when temperature, etc. get too high.... so, I'm looking to see what levels I'm starting to get into the danger zone...

Transmission Temperature: >200°?
Engine Oil Temperature: ?
Exhaust Gas Temperature: ?
Battery Voltage: <10V?

Anything else I should add? There lots of monitoring going on, and I don't know what most of it is....

Thanks.

What is the alert? Visual or audible? If it's audio then is it a loud siren or annoying beeping that won't shut up until the readings fall back into range? If so, then you probably want to set it towards the higher end so it's not going off all the time.

Also depends on your driving style. If you normally run a hot tune and like to mash the throttle often then you'll probably see high EGT's often. You probably don't want that thing going off every time you jump on it.

For extended towing (such as up a steep grade) you want to be aware when your EGTs approach the 1200 range. I back off the throttle if I get to 1300 degrees and there is more climbing to do.

I think oil temp is relational to engine coolant temp so anything around 250 would probably raise my eyebrows. However, I have never monitored my oil temp while under heavy load so maybe someone else will have some useful benchmark for you to go by.

Battery voltage is dependent on quite a few things. How smart is the Edge? Will it know when the engine is running, or when the glow plugs are on? If not, then it will be going off all the time because voltage varies quite a bit just as a normal course of operation on these trucks. If you are just going to monitor system voltage while the engine is running and the glow plugs are off then you probably want to see no less than 13.5 volts or so. Anything in the 12 volt range while under way is cause for concern.

With the CTS you can choose if you want an audible alert or not, and you get to program that length of the alert, there is a 3 second option. There is a visual alert as long as the reading falls outside of the specified range.

I'm going to be running on the 80e and 80t tunes for 99% of the time. The other rare times that I use my 100p tune I'll deal with the alert.

It only monitors alerts when the engine is above 400rpm, so only when it's running. I've only had the CTS installed for a week, in the morning when I start the truck (it's in the 50's now) it drops to around 12V, but then after a little while it's back to 14V+ as it should. I guess I'll have to monitor it move in the winter, but if I get the battery below 10V I think I'll be concerned...
