Anyone know how to test reverse warning system sensors? My truck about 75% of the time, once i put it in reverse the system goes to off. I assumed a sensor, but can't find any major resistance differences in them.
I had mine do that once but when I looked at them it was clear what the issue was. I had some dirt and mud covering one of them but with yours being clear I would assume a short of some sort setting the system off. Have you looked at the wires to see if anything looks worn yet?
Maybe one of the sensors it self has gone bad and needs to be replaced. I have never heard of those failing but that certainly doesn't mean it can't. Might want to see what it would cost for a new set. Seems strange to me though.
The sensors can be bought individually. I was on Tasca's site last week looking for bumper parts for another member and came across them. Weren't horribly expensive if I remember correctly. $30 a piece maybe?
I've heard of peoples going bad, and they replaced one of mine early on (5000 miles or so) under warranty. But now I need to figure out how to determine which one is bad.....there has to be a test procedure i'd think.

I saw something, somewhere on here ( I know that helps) but what it said was to have a buddy stand in the bed with a 2" x 4" and put the truck in reverse. Just hold the brake and have your buddy place the 2" x 4" over each sensor and see which one doesn't work.
I have to try this on mine. I have owned the truck for 3 weeks now, and the back up sensors have not gone off yet. Is there some way to disable them. Maybe the previous owner disabled the sensors. They are on like they are supposed to be, or at least the switch shows that they are on. Anybody got any ideas on this.
I think there is something wrong with my back up sensors as well. When I sstart the truck and go directly into drive, the button for the sensors appear to be on, but as soon as I put the truck into reverse it kicks the sensors "off" on the button. Maybe an electrical short?
Did anyone ever find a way to test the sensors? I don't think the '2x4 over the sensor' trick will work if the warning system is turned off. Mine chirps and turns off as soon as it's put in reverse. There has to be a way to test the individual sensors?
