Here is a picture of my '73 F100 390 w/ power steering and factory air.
Note, in the picture the bracket for tensioning the alternator belt isn't installed yet (I can't find the #*%#! thing!) and has a Sanden a/c compressor conversion.
I like the way that sanden compressor fits. Might wind up doing that conversion on dad's 74. The factory York still works, but at nearly 40 years old, I can only wonder how much longer it can last.......
Out of couriousity, where did you get the comp and conversion bracket?
where did you get the comp and conversion bracket?
Nostalgic Air in Tampa, FL www.nostalgicairparts.com go to mount kits, brackets and pulleys then select miscellanious compressor mounts.
They have two different brackets. The one I used mounts the compressor in a fixed position, you use the factory idler to tension the belt. The other bracket allows you to pivot the compressor to tension the belt.
Both brackets bolt to the original York mounting bracket.
You'll need to have new hoses made to match the compressor fittings.
Thats what I want mine to look like. Nice job!
Got ant extra motor perches?
Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I just hope it runs as good as it looks.
Actually I do have an extra set of perches. Unfortunately I'm 3,000 miles from my truck right now.

Why the heck doesn't someone offer a compressor conversion that doesn't require new hoses? Those factory fittings with the shut-off valves are so handy for not losing the entire A/C charge when you have to pull the comp or engine.......
