02 explorer 4.0 sohc engine help!!!
I searched around for a few hours and couldnt find any information on this. Have an 02 (10/01) explorer 4x4 w/ 4.0 sohc vin e. My repair info says I can remove the heads without pulling the engine. Two dealers said I have to remove the engine but I can't find that any where else in any repair info. Timing chain appears to be in the rear. Anyone know? Does a plastic plenum make a difference? Thanks in advance!

Send me your email address in a private message.
If your Alldata Index reads like the Ford manual Index then it lists the "Timing Drive Components —Camshaft Drive Cassette, LH " under the " In-Vehicle Repair" topic. It doesn't list the RH because it is not an "In Vehicle" repair procedure. It kind of had me stumped there for a minute until I realized what "Section" I was looking at.
The Chilton reads:
Ford manual STILL says you can R&R the right cylinder head IN THE VEHICLE though .......... IDK !!!!
