Amplifier location pictures please

I am installing a two channel amplifier and a dc to ac power inverter and was wanting some suggestions on the location. I was thinking of maybe the center console but was concerned about papers and what not I keep in there from preventing the items from staying cool.

Under driver side 2nd row seat - 5 channel amp, DVD player and headrest monitor controls. Good enough ventilation that nothing gets hot.

Under 2nd row seat also.

Quick question, why only a 2 channel?

probably just adding a sub. I like that old soundstream reference series. Nice.

I will probably be putting mine in a custom rack on the pass side in the rear, but I need to pull the panel off and see how much space all the hvac takes up and what i can do with it.

There is zero room on the pass side unless you use the jack compartment but you can get a small amp in the drivers side.

Thanks. Removed it from my last truck when I sold it along with the speakers - did not want to have to buy them again and still had the stock system.

That is a fact. The HVAC fills almost the hole thing. More room on the driver side rear in front of the spare. You can pull out the little armrest compartment and take a look on the drivers side. I did put my crossovers up in the rear side compartments near the rear speakers.

I have more pics in my gallery - headrest monitors, kenwood in dash dvd/nav, custom subwoofer mounted inside the actual spare tire. PM me if you want any more info on any of my install.

I used sheet metal screws down through the carpet. The floor was not level under the amp so I cut some pipe in different lengths to use as spacers and level it up. The amp sets about a 1/2" above the carpet to help with ventilation.

Now how about some more pics and ideas for the OP.

How big is the inverter and what would it be used for? That may change where I would suggest to mount it. Underneath the second row seats worked well for the 2nd DVD player - it is protected from feet, good airflow, can be reached from the drivers seat - may be a good place for the inverter so it is accessible.

well, I know thats not true, I can see there is a ton of room back there without even taking the panel off, just from taking the jack panel off. Part of installing car stereo is finding space where the factory chose to waste it.

you can mount an amp anywhere if the location allows space around the heatsink. If its tight like under a seat you may want to run a cooling fan, but they are easy enough to wire in since you already have turn on and 12 volts at the amp. You never want to screw an amplifier directly into the sheetmetal of a car. Most newer amps have well isolated mounting feet but its still a better practice to use a board or ABS plastic, and screw that into the chassis and the amp into the board. marine grade birch plywood is the wood of choice. A crafty installer will find a way to mount the amplifiers that doesn't put any holes in your car.

Ok then, let us know how it turns out. There was barely enough room to fit my 6x9's.

A board will work, but getting a little air under the amp will help it to live a longer life.

I used some 3/8" aluminum C channel to get mine off the carpet, and provide a solid point of attachment.
