right trans fluid
what fluid does a cruisematic take. ive been told its the old type F fluid, but the trans part number starts wit an E8 number,did the make them in the 80s? if so wouldn't it take dextron 2?

The Cruse-O-Matic calls for Type F, There is a new product like the one you referred to that can be used in place of. I believe it is Dextron II but verify. I still look for Type F.

Depends
on what transmission you have. All of the older automatic transmissions from Ford use Type F. I believe that Ford changed to Mercon/Dexron about 1976. Check the dipstick. If it is original, it should be marked with the fluid type. If you can post the transmission tag number, not the casting number from the case, we can nail it down for you.
