iirc its about $70 to have it done, and you need to make sure your local place does it BUT theres a oil change place here, they drain your pan, hook your pressure line to a machine that flushes fresh fluid though your cooler, your torque converter and pushes all the dirty into the pan and flush it out.
I just dropped the pan didnt flush it or anything.
and the engine isnt running yet ( trying that tomorrow hopefully)
but should i wait till the engine is going so i do what dieseljohn said.
The way I do it, I get all the old crap out, without bothering with the Torque converter plug.
Drop the pan, clean, new filter, new gasket and pop it back on (DO NOT overtighten pan bolts)
Now find the transmission feed line to the radiator (or trans. cooler) and unplug it.
(to find the feed line, disconnect both lines, and start engine for a second, witchever line shoots oil, is the feeder line)
Blow some compressed air in the radiator (or trans. cooler) to send all the crap and rest of the old fluid back in the tranny.
Put a bucket underneath the vehicle and aim disconnected trans. feed line directlly in bucket to catch old fluid.
Now prepare a bunch of new open transmission fluid bottles right close to your reach.
Start engine, and start pouring tranny fluid in the dipstick hole.
As much fluid will come out as you are putting in so be carefull that you don't run out of bottles, or be quick to turn the engine off. You don't want your tranny to run dry.
Onces the fluid comming out and into the bucket becomes nice and red. - Stop engine
Reconnect trans. feed line to radiator, remove bucket.
Start engine, and check level. Add as needed, then go a good ride to warm up the tranny, when you get back, check level again. (trans. fluid level must be checked on level ground)
And you are done!
(side note: it is alot better and safer if you theres 2 person to do this job, one that sits in the drivers seat waiting for your call to turn on or off the engine.)
